History

The modern Universita degli Studi di Salerno (UNISA) was established as a state university in 1968, growing out of the Istituto Universitario di Magistero 'Giovanni Cuomo' (founded 1944). The main campus relocated to Fisciano in 1988. It enrols roughly 33,000-34,000 students across 17 departments.
